Antonia (Toni)'s Story

This is my second attempt to right this story, My computer and I have a horrible relationship, Here goes, I have lived a very blessed life. Sad but true my first 2 husbands died in accidents. Number 3, Bruce Bartholomew is in very good health, He is a very cerebral man, Not a dare devil. He is an avid fly fisherman who has traveled the world looking for that special fish. We have traveled quite a bit ourselves loving every minute of it. What fun. We have 4 children My2 Bruce 2. All the children are married and each are very accomplished individuals. I am very proud of them because including their successes in their careers they are very good people. What more can a parent hope for. I retired after 31 years of state service. I have always told my children as well as my new hires. You are blessed if you have a good job and doubly blessed if you like your job. I must have practiced what I preached lasting as long as I did. so many administrations so many changes. I have worked on major projects and helped draft legislation that has effected Californians. I loved my job and the people I worked with I also loved my classmates. I loved all of you and the times we spent together, Not many of you knew me very well. I always felt different I felt like I never fit in. Our cultures were so different It was my state of mind. I came from a home where English was not my first language. School was tuff for me I had qualified nuns who straightened that issue out pretty quickly, My problem was I was thinking in Italian and then turning it around to English, I always thought the girls in our class were so beautiful. The boys were boys. I wanted to look like Jan Cardwell, Jane Porter, Sharon Russell Chris Vitullo and Janie B Pam and so many more of you. Our class is full of beautiful people. Oh I loved Jiney.s hair cut.. I couldn't cheer, dance or march. However I was a good debater and editor on the scroll and I loved to write. I loved Mr Rosen and Mr Gerst. they understood me at least I felt like they did. All of you were so nice to me I felt great about high school. It was a very special time in my life. Sock hops, sleep overs, and in burgers & out what more could you ask for. My Dad knew how important is was to have a car. I had a 1954 Ford convertible that leaked and leaked. Gas was...Expand for more
12.5 cents a gallon on arrow highway I remember driving down Arrow Hwy with Carla and Jane. So much fun. Don Melton,, Ron Benson and Bill Koch, Chuck Henry Ken Shacelford and of course my boy best friend Howie. Not to forget the Riehl brothers Drew and Woody. I was so intimidated by George and loved Willie to pieces. I think I have covered the whole class.. I haven't changed much I am still the same silly girl who still loves to have fun ,, Fortunately my husband keeps me grounded. He is good for me. I can't wait to see all of you. Chris and John have gone way out for these parties. I am so grateful for their generosity for this reunion. So my friends I am so excited to see all of you jump up and down and scream. The toughest part of growing up was explaining to my mom why I needed so many formals with shoes that had to be dyed to matched prom dresses. Oh to come from a Sicilian family. What treasures I have passed on to my kids and grandkids. I visited my ancestral home many times. The bed my mother was born in is still there. I hope I have the genes that I see my older relatives have. My Uncles still smoke Dinobili cigars and ride vespas. They are in their 90's They cook, they sing, they spend the summers on the beaches, they have boats and freezers. How great to have ice water and cold beer in Sicily. All these things and so many more have made my life so wonderful. I have had great sadness widowed 2x. Hey, I met another guy who adores me friendships that have lasted over 50 years. Ain't life grand...... How lucky I am. I still love the Dodgers even though they left Brooklyn and the Yanks too.... So finally THE END.......It's fall 2014 time to update my profile, after all we must keep the brain and body moving. I got a wild hair and enrolled in UCDavis paralegal program. Going back to college is a real awaking. I have an awful time studying. I have forgotten so many techniques in going to school. I am having fun. I hope I will find part time employment with a good firm. I would also like to work as a contractor interviewing clients. My specialty. I replaced my VW bug convertible with another. This one is retro red Very cute fun to drive. Learning all the extras on this car have been almost as bad as going back to school. Love to all Happy Holidays a little early.
